Escape Plan

Let’s forget who we are -
cast off these burdened husks
that we call our selves.
Let’s peel away our costumes
clinging tightly to our bodies
like some strange, second skin.
Let's dance out of these frigid shackles
clasped around us from years
of playing our parts.
Let’s leap headfirst with wanton disregard
for everything we’ve learned; into
who knows what, and who knows where
And tumble
falling and flailing, freely;
back into a simpler rhythm of life,
an existence lost to so many.
